Engine Yard Release Updates March 2014

The updates described are either important (where you need to take action) or of interest (you might want to know about these changes but you don't need to do anything).

General Availability: Engine Yard Serverside 2.3.9

March 28th, 2014

Action: Try the Serverside 2.3.9 in a staging environment before you deploy to production.

This engineyard-serverside release includes:

  • Runs git remote prune origin to remove possible branch name collisions before fetching.
  • Updates Git fetch command to use + for heads and not just tags. If the optional plus + is used, the local ref is updated even if it does not result in a fast-forward update.
  • Deploy hook configuration config.input_ref and config.deployed_by now has defaults and will not NoMethodError when a value is not set.
  • Sets ServerAliveInterval=60 on SSH connections between servers to avoid timeouts on slow processes (esp. assets).
  • Fix for rollback action ignoring ey.yml configurations. ey.yml is now loaded on rollback.
  • Explicitly uses current Ruby to syntax check deploy hooks.

More information: See this Engine Yard write-up.
