Sign up for a Full Engine Yard Account

This page describes how to sign up for a full Engine Yard Cloud account.

Note: To sign up for an Engine Yard Kontainers account please complete the trial signup form at https://signup.ey.io/.

The full account includes the following features that are not available in the trial account:

  • Boot environment in any AWS region
  • Create instances of any size
  • New Relic monitoring
  • Most Add-ons
  • Support plan options
  • No time limit

Note: If you want to sign up a trial account, follow the first procedures in the tutorial How to Deploy the ToDo Application on a Trial Account.

Process

This is the process for signing up for a full account on Engine Yard:

  1. Initiate signup.
  2. Validate and start your Engine Yard account.

Or, if you already have a trial account:

Initiate signup for an Engine Yard account

The first step in the process is for you to provide your name and email address and to agree to the terms and conditions. Then, we send you a welcome email.

To initiate signup for your Engine Yard account

  1. Navigate to login.engineyard.com/signup
  2. Enter your name, email address, and a password.
  3. Agree to the terms of service and select the check box.
  4. Click Create Account.

Validate and start your Engine Yard account

After initial signup for an Engine Yard account, you get an email from Engine Yard. In this procedure, you validate and name the account and provide your credit card details.

To validate and start your account

  1. Find the welcome email from Engine Yard (sso@engineyard.com).
    This email should appear in your inbox a few minutes after you create your account.

  2. Click on the verification link.
    This goes to the new accounts page at cloud.engineyard.com.

  3. Enter a name for your account.
    The name must be unique and without spaces and punctuation. Hyphens are allowed.

  4. Click Start Full Setup.

  5. Choose Use Engine Yard's AWS Account to be allocated a new, private, AWS account from Engine Yard's reserved pool and pay for infrastructure as part of your EY bill, or Bring-your-own AWS Account in order to utilise your own pre-existing AWS account with your EY account and continue to pay AWS directly for infrastructure.

  6. Click Continue.

  7. Complete the billing information and click Submit.

    Note: If you want invoices to be sent to multiple email addresses, we recommend that you set up an email alias (internally) rather than choosing one person's email address. This method gives you the ability to edit recipients on demand.

  8. After reviewing your billing information, click Continue.

    You are now ready to deploy your first application.

Upgrade to a full account from a trial account

If you already have a free trial, you might want to upgrade to a full account because:

  • Your free trial is ending.
  • You want the features included with the full account.

To upgrade to a full account

  1. Sign in to your trial account.

  2. In the Dashboard, click Upgrade Account (in the top right corner).

    If Engine Yard has billing information associated with this account, then your trial account is now upgraded and you can access the full range of features.

    If Engine Yard does not have billing information associated with this account, then you are directed to the billing page.

    1. Complete the billing information and click Submit.

      Note: If you want invoices to be sent to multiple email addresses, we recommend that you set up an email alias (internally) rather than choosing one person's email address. This method gives you the ability to edit recipients on demand.

    2. After reviewing your billing information, click Continue.
