End of Engineering for EYK and next steps for EYC

(Note: customers using EYK were notified of this decision on early May 2023, and options where provided on a case by case bases)

Dear EY customer,

As a product, Engine Yard continues to evolve for the benefit of our customers. As part of this evolution, Engine Yard will focus all of its efforts on both EYC where the significant majority of our customers operate, and on Engine Yard AI. So, we will be ending engineering for EYK as a standalone product, effective June 30th, 2023.

During June 2023 the existing clusters were upgraded to a version that will be stable until the end of June 2024. This will allow for a smooth migration or transition. That version of EYK will be known going forward as EYC Stack v8, and will be integrated into the EYC UI. EYC Stack v8 is forecasted to be released summer 2024, and will incorporate many of the container technology and no-ops practices featured on EYK.

In terms of our AI offering we will look to deliver this late H2 2023. Our CEO will provide more detail on this later on the month of August 2023.

Until EYC Stack v8 is released and Support becomes available, we invite customers to containerize their applications and have them ready to go. In our experience, this can take anywhere between 2 weeks and 2 months, so planning accordingly for the effort is a must. Engine Yard can surely help on these regards either through your existing Support Level or a Professional Services engagement.

We are happy to discuss other options as well, either through this ticket or a call that can be scheduled here. We are committed to working with you to ensure your continued success with Engine Yard.
